Bergan Schumacher received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska – Kearney in 2011. In 2015, she received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law where she concentrated her studies on litigation.
Bergan’s primary areas of practice include family law and criminal defense. She is committed to taking the time to get to know each of her clients and the unique situations they face so that she can be strategic about the best way to advocate for them. Bergan is often described by her clients as passionate, knowledgeable, dedicated, relatable and professional.
For the past six years, Bergan Schumacher has been recognized by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service, as a “Rising Star” for her outstanding work and commitment to the legal profession. She zealously advocates for clients facing both misdemeanor and high level felony charges. Bergan’s advocacy in front of juries has saved her clients from spending hundreds of years in prison by securing “Not Guilty” verdicts across the state.
Bergan has also represented clients in domestic matters including divorce, paternity, custody, and adoption. She has tirelessly fought for hundreds of clients battling for the most important piece of their lives, their children. Bergan has proudly assisted dozens of families pursuing adoptions and has also been successful arguing in front of the Nebraska appellate courts.
Bergan was selected to be a contributing author of the Nebraska State Bar Association Family Law Practice Manual and has been elected to serve on the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 6th District of the Nebraska Supreme Court. Bergan volunteers her time by serving on various boards and committees locally and throughout the state of Nebraska. She serves on the Nebraska Supreme Court Committee on Practice and Procedure and is a past President of the Leadership Kearney Board of Directors. In her free time, Bergan enjoys golfing, camping, and traveling with her family.
